Designed with Your Safety and Support in Mind

Take a closer look at the specifics to understand how grab bars help make simple, safe bathing possible for you and your loved ones.

Placed With Care

Our walk-in baths have two grab bars, one at the front and one on the far side of the tub.

Strong and Durable

Made to accommodate body weight, our grab bars are strong enough for easy support.

Comfortable to Use

Our grab bars are engineered and installed to comfortably fit your hands.

Your Built-In Grab Bar Questions, Answered

Our experts decided to place grab bars where bathers would most likely need them: in the front and on the far side of your tub. These placements add support in lowering yourself in and raising yourself out of the tub and are well-placed for moving around the tub during your bath as well.

Most grab bars can support between 300 to 500 pounds.

Any grab bar that can support more than 250 pounds is considered ADA-compliant.

Grab bars are intended to take more weight since they’re used as support for getting yourself in or out of the tub. Handrails are used to maintain stability and mitigate slips or falls but aren’t intended to have full body weight placed on them.

In Safe Step walk-in tubs, we place one grab bar horizontally and the other diagonally. Each is specifically placed for ease of use. Generally, you can place a grab bar in any configuration—placement depends on what offers the most support and comfort in use.

Our grab bars are added onto the tub with all other features once the fiberglass with gel coating is set. They’re mounted with care and anchored in place to ensure the grab bar is sturdy enough to take full body weight.
